Humble Bob Shoudt got things off to a great start in Nashville by consuming 28 Krystals in two minutes and equaling Joey Chestnut's World Record. But that has not bees the only action at the Tennessee State Fairgrounds this year.
One of the great stories just happened as a potential newcomer to the competitive eating world announced himself as a serious contender by easily taking down 14 Krystals in a 2-minute preliminary. His name is Juris Shibayama and definitely looks like he has the raw talent to be a contender in the near future. Juris, originally from Chicago, but now living in Murfreesboro, TN, has been following competitive eating for a while now, but decided to make his official entrance today -- consuming his first Krystal along with 13 more in the 2 minute contest. It appears that with the appropriate training Juris could be a new talent on the circuit.
In addition to the serious eaters we have had some great local Krystal Lovers. Even a full family of Krystal Lovers competed as the Davis family stepped up for their own family feud at the Square Off table. All had fun, although Bill took the family title with 5 Krystals!
